Stetto finally fulfilled his bucket list wish to go to Bomber Field yesterday for the big annual RC event that goes on there every September.  We met up and had a fine time watching the planes and I got a chance to introduce him to my grandson and many of my old RC friends.  We had a fine time and I got some nice hardware out of the deal to boot!   

Yes, he took pics.  Neither of us can seem to post them for some reason, so we are now once again at the mercy of the head Honcho for that.

We talked of a Fubar reunion again.  It's well past time to have one...

Heh, I couldn't pass on the Harrison Ford in the (I believe) Bearcat. Builder told me he actually owns one. I found no evidence of that on subsequent searches, but he is famous for crashing aircraft.

It was a great time, I haven't been around the hobby in years and was surprised at the changes, including how lax the AMA seems to be at flightline discipline. The absence of that familiar aroma of combusting glow fuel was sorely missed.

It was good to pal around with Jaime and his grandson Petey, not to mention George. I'll let Jetmex elaborate

That lax flight line discipline has gotten worse out there as the years have gone by.  The guy in the pic with the light blue shirt standing over a silver B-17 lost an engine on his flight, then decided to be a hero and try to gut it out.  Instead of landing out in the grass, he turned in toward the crowd and damn near took out half a dozen people (me included) while the airplane got all kinds of sideways about ten feet off the ground.  Not a word from the flightline stewards or the AMA reps. Not good seeing forty pounds of out of control RC airplane coming at you.  They gave that *&&^%^&$& best B-17 in show    The warbird gaggles they do are just as scary...

The George that Stetto mentioned is one of my good friends from Florida.  He's an excellent model builder, a damn good pilot and just good people to be around.  We got in a lot of good trash talking. George's B-17 is the one I'm kneeling next to in one of the pics. 

The camouflaged crop duster looking thing is an OA-1K Skyraider, which is basically an armed Air Tractor. That's the one I just built for friend Wally.  118" wingspan, that one is electric.

The rest of you are going to have to come out for this event one of these days.  Bring helmets or hard hats...
