The worm is in the act of turning here...Got the last of the ripening tomatoes and limas and chiles out yesterday, got a dose of mid-thirties last nite, a frost is predicted for tomorrow morning and I can harvest some post-frost brussel sprouts if that happens...

Other than that, I don't have ANY winter-prep done. Waiting until it's a panic situation, I get my best exercise that way!

Big storm came through last night and dumped an inch and half of rain at the house.  Temps dropped quite a bit as well.  It was a Tijuana Brass cruise with the windows down into to work this morning.  Hope it stays that way for a while.

Well it is cooling down again.....a lot of naked trees around, but still many hanging on to their leaves.  But it has been windy...really windy.....like 30 - 40 knot gusts from  every direction....

My mom says there is a big storm over the gulf of Alaska that is supposed to make landfall this weekend....those ones usually cut a diagonal swath across the continent.......have to wait and see....

Onepoint

We have been bouncing back and forth between warm fall and cold fall weather.  Trees are turning and dropping leaves,  and its getting windier.

Surprise!   Summer came back again....

Stilll windy, but it is a warm wind.....

Oct 18th and I had to use the A/C !!    .....and the bugs are back...probably next years batch that hatched a bit early.

I am not minding this at all ......it gives me a chance to finish up some fixin' up on the outside...

Yah, we have a great fall going on here too! My Brussels are continuing to thrive, so I'll leave them out there til threat of hard freeze. Darn lawn is still June green as well.

Onepoint

Yeah, if we did not have the hard freezes earlier, you would think this was early Sept, other than 35 degree nights.  Not complaining either, I am still picking away on the siding, and did bring in all the roofing material to start on that too.

Stetto how do you fix your brussel sprouts to eat?  I really like to splash olive oil, then some salt and fresh ground pepper on em and then roast for 30 min or so in our convection oven.  Any other ways to do it healthy and tasty?   ( I kinda need to leave that cheese stuff alone :) )
To understand true love, lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car for an hour and then see which one is glad to see you when you come back

stetto

Frazz, we usually steam them for 10-15 minutes, but I'm open to some new recipes. I'd like to try roasting, and though I don't get cheese either, I played the Bacon Gambit on Lima beans once and it was so good I know I can get away with it again...I'd also like to try them in a ham and bean soup, in lieu of chopped cabbage...

Yeah fry them up with onions, once the onions are browned remove the brussel sprouts and eat the onions.  :disturbed:

Finally getting some much needed rain.  Over an inch this morning and still raining.

Onepoint

We needed it, but I really didn't want it, its had been about 6 weeks since we had anything and it was pretty dry. However, I am trying to reroof and reside part of the house and got it about 1/6 done when this came.  :eusa_doh:

It's been a wonderful autumn up til today up here in Bullwinkle County, TX. Snow today, temps dropping, next week highs forecast below freezing. Of course next week would be deer season.

Some are predicting a repeat of last winter. If so, watch for the suicide rate to rise precipitously around here...
