Someone should check in on Roger and Joyce. I'd hate to find out he couldn't get a window to shut all the way and had to rent a dog to keep the feet warm....

Down to 24 degrees last night at the house, it's 37 here at the airport now.  If the weather guessers are correct, we'll be back into the 70's by midweek and can go back to watching winter on the nightly news.

......only if you don't perish from hypothermia.....

Dang that is just like me to be a day late and dollar short, I have several I could've rented out.  Lost money making opportunity!

Sounds like you had one of those three dog nights, Honcho!  Down to 21 last night, but it's in the low 50's now and not supposed to freeze again for the rest of the week.  I guess I can take off one pair of long johns now... :eek5:

It is, shall-we-say, cool-ish here, but a massive cold air mass is s'posed to be sliding south next week. They say -40 will be on the warm side of what to expect.....

They backpeddled on this forecast....missed us, and only got down to 18 below! But persistent, and constant snow. Tiny, tiny snow that doesn't accumulate much, but never stops. Now they are forecasting temps well above freezing for the weekend....that should be fun.

stetto

Yah, they'll be referring to this winter as "the nuisance winter of '17" in future years.

Drove through one of the strangest "snowstorms" I've seen yesterday, neither defrost or wiper blades kept up with the microscopic junk that stuck to the glass and made me stop every 10 miles or so to scrape.

I think I saw upwards of 50 whitetail on and near the road, all wearing white blankets.

Yeah, we have had more freezing rain or mist than I remember having as well this year, the layer of ice it created the 1st time is just now starting to melt a little,  but our warm up is about over so we will have a glass smooth ice ring.

Its downright treacherous on the front walk right now with the snow and ice blocking anyway for it to drain off, and ice underneath then a new layer created every night, then it melts a little the next day and I defy a mere mortal to walk on it without doing moves like Michael Jackson.  Not that it matters, because I am not peaking my head out until spring, I am officially hibernating.

Remember that part where I said the snow didn't accumulate?

  I was wrong...

.40 knot winds today rearranged all the snow into inconvenient drifts . Normally, the city crews do a good job of keeping the roads bare and dry.....they can't keep up this year. I have been in full time 4 wheel drive for the past 3 days.  And it is freeking cold

I hear Mexico is nice this time of year.....

balsum fractus

Uh guys......it gets worse......pretty much a blizzard now....blowing strong and hard out of the north........which means it is heading south. Temps 45 below, 30 knot winds, and snow everywhere!  Suggest battening the hatches.

The good news is that it will be much warmer on the weekend - like above freezing.

wtxsflyr

It was 83 here yesterday, but we have a cold front headed our way. Supposed to get down to the 40's with 4 days of rain! Y'all stay warm up there in north Texas!

jetmex

Been raining here for the last two days, 4 inches at the house yesterday and it's still raining today.  There was an article in the paper about why Houston floods every time it rains, but nowhere did it mention that being a swamp next to the Gulf of Mexico might have something to do with that.   :sadness:   57 degrees, should be back into the 70's by the weekend.

jetmex

Hey Roger, are you still above water?

balsum fractus

88 degrees and dry a few hundred miles south of you.  Too hot for me!!

stetto

One strange winter, kiddies.

We spent the two middle weeks of January above freezing. We aren't used to going through those weeks above zero, fercryinoutloud.

It's 30 degrees this morning. Feels cold. :sadness:

I can't wait to see what February has in store!

Onepoint

We had a thaw here as well, maybe not quite that warm but after singles and teens lows following the big chill, it was welcome.  We had actaul rain last night, followed by a dusting of snow, which tells me I better have my ice spikes on.
