Had a hell of a storm  blow through here yesterday.  50kt gusts and heavy rain for about 45 minutes, and then it was gone.  The weather rock departed the field and is lying somewhere at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.  Of course, the airport shut down.  They had to pick tree limbs off the ramp that had blown in from somewhere.  Ten miles north, where I live, nothing happened.  Funny how that works.

Been really wet this summer so far.

We went from an Oregon spring to full on summer in the span of a couple days, hit 101 today, but fortunately had a rain shower come through and cool it off.  Getting sick of mowing so much already though.

one nights worth

I know, I know, it ain't 40". We don't get 40" here, you Texans get it all....We're lucky to get an inch and a half at one time every year...Up here the crop insurers call 4" inches of rain "The Apocalypse"...

:eek5:  We had a gully washer go through the other day that gave us about 2 in a couple hours, but nothing like that, back east in central NE they got some bad ones, Kearney is underwater so I hear.

We have a possible hurricane sitting about 300 miles east of us.  Again.  Right now, weather guessers aren't sure where it will go, but they sure seem to be looking at a lot computer models, all of which are different.  We're supposed to get some rain, but there's no idea how much.

Ah, stay inside, no heroics for you!

I see they finally named the dang thing, likely so they can blame some poor unsuspecting president if things get out of hand...but Barry?

jetmex

Quotebut Barry?

Well, they were bound to name something besides a memorial waste water facility after him sooner or later....

96 degrees here now, heat index is about 120 on the ramp.  We're supposed to get some rain tonight and tomorrow, but it sure doesn't look like that now.

Good thing Barry didn't hit Houston. Fear mongering appears to have ruled the airwaves, a lot of people got conned into spending money they didn't have to prep.

We're doing a 90° week, Texas humid too.

I think hell just froze over.  It's 68 degrees outside right now.  In Houston.  In July.  Whoda thunk that??   :disturbed:

Cool.............literally!😂😂

Well, the cool front didn't last long.  We're on day 5 over 100 degrees.  The weather guessers think there's another cool front coming that might drop the temps into the mid 90's.  Imagine that!

What's funny is that people are surprised it's this hot.  Not like it never happens or anything....  :eek5:

In 2 weeks it will be the 1-year anniversary of our last first hard frost.

...and it smells like Fall this week, low to mid 60s and all-day rain.

Time to start scoping out new digs. If T wasn't so eager to move to the Springs (no CO for me), we'd be packin'. I'm ready to sell Tshirts on the Mustang Island beach....Hurr'canes or no.

Onepoint

Yeah, its only been a couple degrees cooler the last couple mornings, but there is a feel in the air already.

Not a good day in the swamp.  Imelda has dumped about 15 inches of rain at my house so far in the past two days, most of it today.  The water came to within an inch or two of our back door, it's waist deep at the mailbox in front of my oldest daughter's place around the corner about a half mile away.  Youngest daughter's house in Kingwood flooded again, about six inches this time.  She's upstairs right now with my grandson.  Might be a while before we can get in there to get her out, but at least they still have power.  We're shut down here at IAH - the Houston ATC center flooded and all incoming flights are being diverted or sent back.  Another fine week in the swamp.  Mosquito report to follow....
