We finally got 2/100's yesterday afternoon. Made it feel like a sauna the rest of the day.

We been gettin' the rain lately, over an inch/week. Maybe great for the garden, but the Kohler on the mower blew a couple gaskets the other day.... :eusa_wall:

Hoo---eee!

Got hammered with lightning last night, no wind, only a half inch of rain, but this morning one of those dech---uh---dech...wind-packed, lightning rich soaking squalls is coming at us, should be here within the hour...

I actually roped my small stand of corn yesterday, hopefully to keep it all standing through this. :disturbed:

102 outside right now, should be about the same tomorrow.  One of those famous "stalled high pressure systems..."

We are in a full blown drought,  whatever storms come through just mostly bring wind. The places who are lucky enough to get some rain tend to get hail along with it.  Today is not bad at all, 84 right now, but was triple digits yesterday, and supposed to be back bouncing around in the 90s tomorrow and throughout the the weekend.

Jeez guys, you make me feel guilty....We wound up with about 2 & 1/4" of rain all told, came down in half-hour long quarter inch at a time downpours. The temperature yesterday never rose above 63...Farenheit...

There was no wind to speak of, regardless the panic ginned up. They might have had a gust somewhere, but it wasn't here...

Needless to say, the corn is still standing...

I officially have two weeks until Official Expectation of First Frost. Last year on Sep. 1 we had a hard freeze. I hope the vegetables are aware of this.

70s & 80s "predicted" for the next ten days, with lows in the low-mid 50s. Kinda makes a Texan want a vacation, eh?

Did they get that irrigation tunnel fixed?

Onepoint

they dug it out finally last fall, but its just temporarily fixed, they have put in arched braces, which reduces the flow, we are down to 80% of our allocation,  but I think they are shorting even more than that right now.  They did say we should have it fixed permanently and be back to 100 percent by 2022 or so.  :sadness:

Hey Humble, you hunkerin' or getting out?

You too Joyce & Roger. Stay safe, the panic machine is running full on, never sure what to make of these storms of yours...

West Texas, well....I imagine you could use the rain right now...if is comes that way. :disturbed:

You are so right Stetto, we are about to dry plumb up. Not even going to come close to us.

Whew, looks like we broke the heat wave, still dry, but instead of being 70 at 5:30 AM it was 46 this morning, that's kind of a shock to the system.   I also see a forecasted high for the day of 54 and a low of 33 next Tuesday.   :eek5: I can guarantee the heavy coats will come out that day if so.

stetto

Ah, first frost cometh, eh? Well it was inevitable, I guess.. :icon_frown:

We're at 45° right now. At least no hard freeze on Sep 1 like last year.

We finally got some much needed rain.  1.5 inches so far, and temps that are actually bearable.

QuoteHey Humble, you hunkerin' or getting out?

Actually, we bugged out, but it was a planned trip that just happened to get a hurricane thrown in.  We went to Florida to visit the oldest son and the Princess, and even though the hurricane missed us in Houston, we got the residuals from the storm for several days in Florida and on the way back in the form of heavy rain.  Laura was a big one...

We passed through Lake Charles LA on the way home.  Been a week, they still have no power and there are still miles of power lines down all around the city.  Whole neighborhoods are gone, the damage is unbelievable.  But what's really sad is that there is now little to no mention of the storm by the media.  I think if it had hit Houston, we'd still be front page news, but since it hit smaller cities in Louisiana, it now seems to have been forgotten altogether.  So if y'all need a cause to donate to, send something for the folks in southern Louisiana.  They could use it.

104 today here in beautiful downtown Uhhhhmble....

I just wanted to post this so I can refer back to it and annoy myself
