I hear South Padre calling your name Stetto, though this week might not be the best to make a move south!  :disturbed:

The good news is it'll be back in the 70's by next weekend...

It starts warming up......relatively speaking....to zero-ish by Monday, but then the wind picks up!

Onepoint

Looks like we got close to 8" of snow and -10 this morning, but no wind, so as it goes we have dodged much of the bullet, besides the snow they said we wouldn't get.  At least the water line to the corrals thawed out yesterday afternoon, packing water in buckets sucks.  By Tuesday we are going to be in high 20s supposedly, and maybe by  Friday we can deport this Canadian air back to the great white nort'.

We are currently setting at 4 degrees, have about 6 inches of snow, and still coming down like crazy!

22 degrees here Carl, wind chill around 2 or 3.  We only got an inch or so of sssnnnn................sssnsnssnn................ssssssssbrrrrrr....but there's half an inch of ice under it.  Supposed to be in single digits tonight.

-25, hopefully the last one this year. Got the vehicles on 6amp life support, I think a new Interstate batt is in my immediate future...

So we had the propane tank filled the day before all this started almost two weeks ago. It'll be interesting to check the guage later this week and find out what mileage got put on the furnace...

Yeah, was not fun. I went out last night about 9 and gave more straw to the outside dog in his igloo because I was worried, he was fine. The wind quit, but we bottomed out at -18

Good news! Heat wave coming!!!! Going to all the way to nearly the melting point of ice!!

jetmex

Sun came out late this afternoon and melted off most of the ice, but the wind hasn't dropped, so it's going to be a little chilly tonight.  16 degrees and falling right now.  We didn't have water for a few hours, and son and daughter haven't had power all day.  And speaking of power...

Seems all of our wind turbines are frozen.... :disgust:

I saw that, not just yours, but even up here where supposedly they are designed to work in snow and cold.   Carl said on FB that they will have been without power for more than 24 hours.   Looking at the map I can't tell if we are in the rolling blackout zone or not, if not we are just ion the edge of it.  But we have not lost power yet so I guess we are good.

Kind of telling how cold its been when I get up and am thankful its only -1

stetto

Wow Carl, I just looked at the radar down there. I'm awful sorry, you folks in the Abilene area look to be in the crosshairs of storm #2.

Hope you got a genny fueled up.

Sorry to hear of all the grief you guys are having. Can only hope for a silver lining somewhere - like maybe some stupid people will die off........

Maybe some Californians will go home...

We were without power for what seemed like forever, total electric house didn't take long to get unreasonably cold. Neighbor down the road saved our life by loaning us a Dearborn propane heater.  It has done a reasonable job of keeping the house bearable.  Yesterday, had a cow have a calf when it was 11 degrees, I was worried about her last night, the temp got down to -4.  But she was fine this morning.  We actually had electricity from about 3 to 7 this morning, then it went off again. Then had it from 2 to 6 this afternoon, but it is off again.  Having to haul water from the house 3-4 times a day to the cows, horses, chickens and dogs is getting old.  We are supposed to get another couple of inches of snow tonight. I will be glad when Friday gets here because it is finally supposed to be above freezing.  Been having to use Billie Sues car for all our running around and chores because the diesel in my truck is gelled up. And I have a 8500 watt generator, worked on this summer, had it running like a top,  would not even consider starting yesterday in 11 degree temps.
