I guess we were starting to clear off a bit, so Mother nature is giving us another 4 to 8" by Monday morning, and we probably have 4" already.  Of course its being efficient and blowing as it snows to save the fuss in between and smooth out all the places we had cleared off.

All that white stuff you guys have melted by the time it got here and we got the result.  It will be raining here through Wednesday.  And the temps will be all over the place again for the next week or so.  I'm glad the gate finally got closed, but maybe one of you could put some weatherstripping on it?   :disturbed:

Back to the snow and cold ......only 2-1/2 months of winter left......

Onepoint

So we got about 4" so far as I can tell, still snowing but not piling up much, fluffy stuff, covered every bit of ground, so you can't tell where the old drifts are,  ruts piles or anything else, walking an adventure and just a little dangerous trying to drive, you can't see where the road ends.  Even where its bladed, there is snowpack or ice, so it's all white. just bright enough with a light cloud cover its so glaring, with the snow having smoothed everything out yiou have no idea what you are driving in. I even got off the tractor, walked to where I have a crossing over a small ditch, thought I figured out where the end of the culvert was, but must have been on a frozen drift and still drove into it, and just about got stuck.  We get winters so it's not like we ebenr see snow and cold, but this just absolutely sucks right now.  But at least we are 8 above.   :eusa_wall:

If I didn't have white hair before I surely do after this, like a gnome, I may come out of my cave at the summer solstice.

Geez....I remember a dashing cowboy/rancher type with a 5 year old daughter.......

Onepoint

Yeah I vaguely remember that too, I have no idea where he got off to, but an old curmudgeon is who keep looking at me in the mirror.

I had two five year old daughters once.  But that was sometime late last century.... :eek5:

Awright already.  Someone up there left the gate open again.  It hasn't been much above 40 the last three days, though we just missed, but not by much, the ice storm that hit north of us.  38 degrees and raining right now.  It's February, winter can be over now....

Onepoint

Heh, we are still in some sort of hellish snowscape, with undead snowmen standing staring at you at some houses and some sort of bundled up big foot type things wandering about, and apparently trucks and cars when it gets cold like to pile up and snuggle on the roads.

I'm sure this is normal in Canananada, which now has opened up a whole new realization, Canadians are insane, because there is no way you can remain nice throughout this stuff.

This is really unusual though, we get snows, sometimes blizzards and deep ones, but normally it warms up and melts off in between, at least in all but the shady spots. The 1st one from mid Dec piled up, still have some drifts from it that are essentially ice mounds now, the next one in mid Jan that gave a deep wet blanket over that, and even stayed on the tin roofs still only partially coming off, so there are snow curtain hanging, then we get another 4" and it is a distinct layer on top of that.  All the places you move it too just are getting higher not slowly melting down.  Though it hasn't been terribly cold except the last 2 or 3 days, (night before last Lyman had -28 real temp again, though I got up to -9 at 5 am here), but it's just cold enough it's not melting much.

And we have been getting wind off and on, and that drifted up the snow that's around, some of the county roads were unpassable this week again.  I went out yesterday with the tractor and spent an hour pushing snow around the yard,  I had some stealth drifts sneak up under me and got me stuck in the tractor for a bit, and no sooner got done than I saw a great white wall of blowing snow coming from the west which put a thin layer of snow back over everything and then moved on.  :eusa_wall:

Could be lots worse I realize, western and central WY have been slammed, way deeper snow, and much colder, they were -38 for 2 nights in a row I hear over ins Shoshone though that's not as abnormal there than this is.  But it's bad enough this feeding cows thing is like a real job.  And just walking through the un shoveled parts is some sort of forced crossfit training nighmare.

'Fraid not.....although it typically is the last month of hard winter.

I will empathize with you guys though...that is chilly!

My fear is that it gives ammunition to the climate-change zealots........

45 and severe clear here. 55 tomorrow, Friday and Saturday...

I'm told that we in CO Springs are on the northern edge of what is called a "snow-hole", hence we and those in the Pueblo area are given free use of the word "drought".

We have not been above freezing since early Monday,  continuous freezing drizzle and rain,  and we have a solid 3/4 inch of ice on everything.

I guess we are picking on you Carl, we finally had a melting day, got up to 40 and it started to get soggy.  Now we get the slop fest if the temps hold out like they predict, but at least we may see some brown spots and it won't be a slog through drifts, I had to get up yesterday and get the tractor going just to get Vicki through our county road because it had blown shut again.
