We got another new driver hittin' the road as of 8:30 this morning!

Mamma is ecstatic, no more 12 mile rides back and forth to two jobs or the 12 mile drive to school in the mornings. Me? Ehhhhh, kinda mixed on that. Every momentous event in these kids lives moves them farther away from the cozy nuclear we had going.

...But the Dude will abide....

Oh, her ride...

She actually saved up for it. Kinda like to hope that'll become habit, but judging from her brother's frugalness--NOT, we can only hope....

Congrats...I think.  I know I fondly remember the days when insurance was affordable. :)

Well, she's had two mishaps already, one a trip into the ditch in Mom's freshly purchased Dodge Journey, the other a "fender scratcher" in the high school parking lot just yesterday. She is setting a pattern for herself, and she is also making her own premium payments. No disposable income for that girl....

What? No '65 Mustang ??

My first car was a '65 Mustang. Wish I was smarter with that one. Drove it into the ground in less than a year, but no wrecks. I got 200 bucks out of her because "the upholstry was still nice"....

Heh, my 1st truck was a F150 4x4 that someone put a new 390 in, my dad thought that would be good idea, until we brought it home and I found it would turn the tire into smoke. :) I don't remember what happened to it, but it got sold after I lost my license for racing up a street ( town cops no sense of humor or adventure) and I ended up with the folks 79 F150 with a more moderate 352m engine that I kept until I wore it out after several years later.

Oh you guys got class!

My very first car was an English Ford Zephyr..........cuz I didn't know any better and my Dad was the type that let me figure these things out for myself. That resulted in a lot of expensive mistakes over the years...

Another teenage girl driver!!!   :eek5:  Did she spend the summer in the pool?

My first car was a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am, silver with a red interior.  She had no screaming chicken on the hood, which made it really easy to find in the parking lot at the mall.  I actually bought the decal, then traded it for the electric solenoid operated hood scoop flapper that would open and close with throttle movement.  The smogged out 400 that was in it probably made 200HP or so when I was done with it....

Hey, I had. 75 TA!!  White on white, no bird on the hood. Surprisingly good handling car.....much better than the Camaros that followed it.

Somehow I was wise enough to sell it before I killed myself in it....

Hmmmm, all my friends had the muscle cars, '69 LeMans, '69 Roadrunner A/T, 'Cudas, Challengers, one of my favorites a '69 or '70 Monte Carlo, the list goes on....

Closest I got was a '72 Fury III two door. Was really comfy, looked sexy as hell, but felt like driving a Mississippi river barge.

It was a great handling car.  Mine was lowered an inch and had all the sway bar bushings replaced with polyurethane, so it went around corners like a slot car.  Road and Track magazine did a series of articles on how to improve the handling, so every month during the summer of 1979, I was under the car....Never owned a Camaro.

On my first chase airplanes around Texas road trip, found that the tools, spare parts, doughnuts, overnight stuff and me did not all fit comfortably in the T/A, so I've had a truck ever since.   :'(

Ya but you had a mustang!

Yeah, but-but-but, I didn't have a Mustang attitude. Don't think I ever even washed it once. It had the smallest straight 6 you'd ever see, like a 200 or some such wimpy stuff.

It did have a 3-speed stick. I was all about that.

Yeah but it was a mustang on the outside! ....imagine what that would be worth today ?
