Golleeeeeeeeeeee  It got above freezing, the sun is shining, and the cat is molting (shedding or whatever it is called..).....spring must be on its' way!!!!

Onepoint

Must be,  the sun came up late, stays up longer and my to do list is about 10 times longer than last week.  :icon_confused:

balsum fractus

My to do list only has one item on it, and it never goes away no matter how much effort I expend towards that goal....

Is that like when water falls from the sky?? ...and not the usual white stuff??? If so, we have that rare phenomenon happening right now.....  Windy as heck too!!!

stetto

That was LAST week, Nony.

Today it's snowing. Again.  :eusa_wall:

The slo-o-o-o-o-o-o-w thaw we're having has had our sump running about every 5-10 minutes. I hate to think how far downstream the house would have floated had we not installed the sump when we moved in. The previous owner had a plugged-up french drain that couldn't possibly have kept up.

Robins are here, geese are back, as are the finches and skunks...I took the Ruger 10/22 to one of the stripedy bastiges a few days ago...25 shots and I don't think I hit him even once...He just stood there, about 150 yds away, staring at me. I took the scope off last summer because most of my targets were 50 yds or less...The open sights are pretty close to dead-on, but the with the combination of elevation (He was down-slope), windage (around 20 mph and swirling) and the ever-present human error... :disturbed:

...Now I'm thinking .17...Any you guys got one for sale? :eusa_pray:

For the price of ammunition, it would be really hard to beat some kind of .223 caliber, even if a bolt action.  You can buy factory loaded ammo for 20-25cents a round.

Onepoint

For the steel cased stuff, which is not all that accurate its around 25 cents.  A 17hmr will definitely be better in the accuracy dept for the cost per round.  But its limited to easy shots to about 150 yd, after that you have to start watching wind drift and drop.  Get much over 250 and you start testing yourself.

A cheap but decent 223 is the single shot handi rifles staring around $225, an AR is going to set you back about $600 minimum.  A 17hmr like a Savage 93r17 is going to start around $200, but will get to 300 quickly if you want a bull barrel and anything other than synthetic stock. And close to 400 for a Henry Lever action in 17hmr.

But heck, I would just scope the 10/22 again.  I usually take mine out since its so cheap to shoot and have been known to hit Pdogs 200 yrds or more.  Maybe try a see through mount or rings so you can use both.

stetto

Yeah, the see-through is a good idea. Most of what I shoot at is well within 100 yds, it would do me a lot of good to do some target shooting at 150 for those rare occasions that a skunk or cat strolls past the back...Or I could just pick up a 50 shot mag... :icon_redface:

After a day of rain (I suspect one of you left the door open just a bit), spring has returned.  73 degrees outside now and all the humidity seems to be at Stetto's place right now..... :icon_lol:
