We got the first s***fall last friday......it has almost melted, but more coming in the next 4 days...

Folks that read the farmers almanac say we are in for a dooozy this year.

The good news:
-the mosquitoes are gone
-no noisy motorcycles
-don't have to mow the grass
-don't need the A/C any more
-the snow blower still works
-only 6 more months til Spring
- I get to use 4WD for real

the bad news:

- winter is here    :eusa_doh:

A weather guy was saying yesterday that "dooozy" predictions are exagerated. Apparently the last two extremely warm cozy winters have given predictions for this year the impression of doom and gloom when temps and snow amounts should be close to normal.

Heh, we had a low of 20 a couple nights ago, yesterday was 70, today 80, tomorrow 85. They can't decide what we are going to have for winter, they say it's setting up to be la nina, which could mean either way for us since were usually on the boundary but we have been dry enough that despite the lack of official declaration we are in a drought.   We don't get some serious moisture before spring its going to be tough one next summer.

As always, the offer is always open....all the moisture you want (as long as you don't mind it being cold and white..) - just come and git it !

Onepoint

Heh, that's one of those things I want it until I get it.

stetto

Not that it means anything, but we have a thunderstorm going on.

These are kind of rare this time of year...

balsum fractus

Hmmmmm..... that was an unusually short winter! Snow is all gone, now it is back to raking leaves, washing cars, and enjoying some warm sunny weather.........for now...

Onepoint

Yeah, its back to warm and dry for us too, except we only got a sprinkle. They keep telling us we may have a cool wet winter, or warm dry one depending where the boundary sets up.

We here have had two of the nicest, mildest winters in a row, it would be really nice to think this is the new normal, but us sensible people know better. We brace for the worst, regardless.

Our Fall has been the usual mixed bag, I still got limas drying on the vine, so no super hard freezes yet, please. Deer season opens 3 weeks from tomorrow, and though the hunters here like a few inches of sn*w on the ground to track by, my best harvests have come with the warm dry mildness...

Good grief, Charlie Brown!   It was 75 yesterday, and supposed to be near that today !!

In November!!!

Now I have to dig out the lawnmower again.....

Onepoint

Yeah us too, we have had a few 80s even. Of course the bad part is it was the warmest october on record, and the 3rd driest as well.   :icon_neutral:

stetto

Yah, here too, and deer season starts in the morning....I lucked into the sweetest spot for my blind-3 converging trails, LOTS of traffic, rubs and scrapes all around. It hasn't been this game rich in many years!

balsum fractus

It's Nov 11th, and I hhad to dig my lawnmower out of storage and cut the grass!!

Onepoint

Heheh, well I can see the bright side to being dry now, we may be as warm or warmer, but nothing is growing.  Too bad i am wasting so many if these days on the road or doing w.. w... stuff, when I should be shooting and flying.
