I'm tempted to climb into my truck and drive south till my toes can feel wet Gulf sand between them, maybe stop in Luling for a snack....

This grueling winter is going to make spontaneous travellers out of a lot of us.

Is there a gathering this summer?

stetto

I certainly hope to attend if there is...for me it all depends on how things are going with my dad.

I'm still planning to go down there, I have the middle 2 weeks of July booked off.......as I seem to recall, Wyoming gets pretty warm that time of year, so that may not have been the best timing decision that I have ever made........

Onepoint

You never know, could be stormy and you can watch the tornadoes, but it will be cooler.   :icon_mrgreen:

Heck, I've seen it snow in Cheyenne in July. Bring a toque, Nony....

Surfboard and snowshoes??

CHANGE OF PLANS!

July did not work out for us.

But the first week in September is wide open. We leave on Sept 4th and start driving south....should be in Fubar Country by the weekend!! Hopefully, there will be some folks nearby that might need some help baling hay, or milking goats.

Onepoint

Heh, well its not like we are going anywhere, and who knows, it might be summer and I will have 1st cutting hay up by then.

balsum fractus

Hopefully we can have a truck-in.....I hear some folks have some new wheels this year...

Onepoint

Uhg, this is the summer that never happened so far,  50 degrees and drizzle this morning, 60 for a high and intermittent showers yesterday, and I see it snowed down under 7500' last night across the state in places.

balsum fractus

Yeah tons of rain here this week...yet up by Peace River, they are evacuating people out of the way of a large wild fire!
Hopefully things settle dow by September!

Onepoint

Yeah I heard that a lot of the north is under a drought.

jetmex

I hope things settle down by September as well.  We'll be on the road last week in August - north through Oklahoma City into Wichita, then cutting over to go through Yellowstone.  Then up to the Little Big Horn, and across to Belle Fourche and Mt. Rushmore.  Her concession to my interests are a stop in Omaha to see the Strategic Air Command Museum, mainly because they're sorta responsible for me being in the airplane business.

If anyone might be near any of those places, please let me know!  Looks like I might have to pack the parkas for some of that snnn....sssss.......ssnssnssns.....that stuff that's only supposed to happen in winter.  :disgust:

Onepoint

They got a pretty good (and free) Airforce exhibit museum On Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City since you are going to be going to Rushmore. http://www.sdairandspacemuseum.com/

Probably should try to swing by devils tower if you have time.

I take it you are going north to I-90?  I-80 would bring you within striking range of Fubar Hill.  Then on the way to Rushmore there is Agate fossil beds with... fossils of all things, but a lot of Indian artifacts too if those things are of interest.   :disturbed:
